Voltage Surge Generator
Voltage surge simulation
The surge simulator type VSS 500N6 generates high voltage transients as required by IEC 60255-27 with a source impedance of 500ohm for transient overvoltage tests on "Protection Relays". The output voltage ranges up to 6.6kV, covering for tests levels 1 to 5.
The no-load waveshape corresponds to IEC-61180-1. For this kind of testing the IEC 60255-27 standard requires a fixed energy of 0.5J at each test level.
- Surge pulse 1.2/50us up to 6.6kV
- 5 different test levels
- Source impedance 500ohm
- Constant Energy of 0.5J at each test level
- Peak voltage/current measurement
- Spark-over detection
- Interlock
- Warning lamp control
- Manual operation
- USB and GPIB interface
Benefits
VSS 500N6 - Voltage surge generator with constant pulse energy
The VSS 500N6 is designed as per IEC 60255-27 meeting the requirement to maintain a constant pulse energy at different test levels as specified by the standard. Such tests are specified for transient overvoltage tests on protection relays. The test generator itself follows the specifications as per IEC 61180-1 and covers the predefined voltage levels corresponding to the most used test voltages used for relay testing.
Fail inputs are offered as standard for DUT monitoring purposes. Peak values of voltage and current are shown in the display and these values are transferred to the software for reporting.
To comply with safety regulations the VSS 500N6 is equipped with a contact to control warning lamps and with a safety interlock.
Pre-programmed Standard Test routines allow highest user convenience. Still the VSS 500N6 offers the Quick Start test routine where parameters can be changed on-line during the test.
Operation
Easy to operate
Front panel menu and function keys enable the user to program his test routines quickly and accurately. The cursor allows fast control of all test parameters of the programmed routine, thus test procedures are simplified and confidence is generated that every step is carried out correctly.
Software
iec.control Software for control and documentation
Outstanding user convenience, clearly structured windows and operation features and the EM TEST standards library along with the flexibility to generate user specific test sequences very easily are the main features of iec.control software. The software is automatically configured according to the connected EM TEST generators. Extensive reporting capabilities help the user to create test reports that meet international requirements.
iec.control is supported by Windows 7, Windows 8 (64Bit) and Windows 10. Remote control is achieved either via USB or GPIB. iec.control supports a wide range of GPIB cards of National Instruments.
