Compact Telecom Surge Generator as per Bellcore/Telcordia GR-1089-Core
TSS 500N6B - Telecom Surge generator for Bellcore 4-wire applications
Telecommunication networks are exposed to lightning events. Therefore telecommunications equipment being connected to the outside world need to have appropriate protection to show an acceptable immunity to surge transients in order not to fail in case of lightning events.
The TSS 500N6B is used for 4-wire applications as per Bellcore GR-1089-Core and supports 12 pair telecom port testing via the CNB 500 optional coupler. It can also be used for the 2-wire telecom port testing.
- Compact Tester for Bellcore/Telcorida GR-1089-CORE
- Test pulses for 4-wire telecom applications
- Also covers 2-wire telecom port testing
- Generates test pulses 10/360µs, 10/1,000µs and 2/10µs
- Includes all necessary matching resistors
- Built-in coupling network
- Supports testing 12 pairs (10/360µs)
- Manual operation
- Standard Test routines

Benefits
TSS 500N6B - All you need to test 4-wire applications as per Bellcore
Telecom Surge Simulators of the TSS 500N series are used to proof the immunity of telecommunications equipment. The TSS 500N6B has been developed to represent an easy-to-use test equipment for testing 4-wire applications as per Bellcore GR-1089-Core. This standard includes several test pulses with different source impedance values to generate the pulses required by Bellcore for First Level Lightning and Intra-Building Lightning Surge tests as well as for AC power port testing. All test pulses are generated by means of a single tester. The necessary CDN to connect the telecom ports (both for 2-wire and 4-wire applications) is integrated. The internal switching circuit automatically sets the generator to apply the test pulses according to the selected coupling mode. The TSS 500N6B also supports testing of 12 pair telecom ports simultaneously with the test pulse 10/360µs using the optional CNB 500.
Pre-programmed Standard Test routines allow highest user convenience. Still the TSS 500N6B offers the Quick Start test routine where parameters can be changed on-line during the test to evaluate the susceptibility level of an individual DUT.
Operation
Easy to operate
Front panel menu and function keys enable the user to program his test routines quickly and accurately. The cursor allows fast control of all test parameters of the programmed routine, thus test procedures are simplified and confidence is generated that every step is carried out correctly.
Software
iec.control Software for control and documentation
Outstanding user convenience, clearly structured windows and operation features and the EM TEST standards library along with the flexibility to generate user specific test sequences very easily are the main features of iec.control software. The iec.control software is automatically configured according to the connected EM TEST generators. Extensive reporting capabilities help the user to create test reports that meet international requirements.
iec.control is supported by Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Remote control is achieved either via USB or GPIB. The iec.control supports a wide range of GPIB cards of National Instruments.
Other Models
Telecom worldwide with EM TEST
The TSS 500M/N series covers the wide range of Telecom Surge requirements as per Bellcore GR-1089-Core, FCC 97-270 (part 68) and the various ITU-T recommendations as well as the requirements of many EN/IEC standards and some national Telecom Standards.
Auxiliary Devices
CNB 500 - Coupling Network for 12 Tip and Ring pairs
The CNB 500 network is used to perform the First Level Lightning Surge Test according to Bellcore GR-1089-Core on up to 12 Tip and Ring pairs simultaneously. The test pulse is the 10/360us pulse and 25A have be applied at a test voltage of 1,000V.
